(Mind the shorterned title)
The Companion Aboo Jum'ah Al-Kinaanee al-Ansaaree (may Allaah be pleased with him), told us: “We were with the Messenger of Allaah (salutations and peace be upon him) and Mu'aath ibn Jabal was with us, (and) there were ten of us (present). We said: "O Messenger of Allaah,we have believed in you and followed you. Are there any people who may be more rewarded than us?"
The Prophet (salutations and peace be upon him) said: "What would prevent you from that (i.e. belivieving), while the Messenger of Allaah is amongst you (directly), and he brings you Revelation from the Heavens? Rather, (yes, there are a) people who will come after you, a book in between two pads will come to them, and they will believe in it and work according to what is contained in it. Those are the ones who will be more rewarded than you.".
Declared Hasan by Al-Haafith Ibn Hajar, in "Al-Amaalee Al-Mutallaqah" (40, 42), with the wording, "... they will find a book in between two pads..."
This was also related by Imaam al-Bukhaaree in "Khalq Af'aal Al-'Ibaad" (pg. 75)
