i just purchased a laptop..... and i have a few questions...

1) the specs listed mention 200 gb of hard disk.....however when i went into see my c; DRIVE it, has been partitioned and on portion is 170 gb and the other is 7 gb..... so that does not add upto 200 gb... is this normal false advertising or am i unaware of something?

2) from your experiences is a warranty really that neccessary? i had doubts about purchasing at the time.....so i held back... for me to get the warranty in a permissible manner would require me to go back to the store and refund my purchase and re-purchase the laptop along with the extended warranty... so is it that much of a 'dharoorah'?

your feed back asap would be highly appreciated...

Which OS are you using, it may have been caused a bug (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/305098) in older version of windows. To confirm the capacity, go to device manager, get the model number of the harddrive and google for the real capacity.

I would refrain from warranty to be in the safer side. You'll have to ask a scholar if this can be considered as 'dharoorah'.

that happened to me too. I bought a dell computer and i thought i was getting 200 gb memory as well but when it opened it was 180 gb. I phoned them up and one of their engineers explained that the memory was used to save things like windows and other programs.

Phone the company up and insha Allah you will get an explanation.
