I kind of have a weakness for "Kingdom of Heaven" although it definitely can't be called 'Islamic' and admittedly the plot is a bit weak (especially in the beginning)... but the Muslims win! Coolness!

I guess...the film is so coloured by contemporary events though- it's really unsubtle (like the obvious emphasis on extremists vs moderates on both sides, whatever that's supposed to mean). Plus, history isn't the same after Hollywood has touched it- real history is way cooler, no sanitisation or anything. Like, Imad adDin az-Zengi; he crucified forty-odd guys from the Damascus garrison; his son sent a commander to overthrow the fatamids, who choked on a piece of food and died...assassins, conquests, pillage etc etc- Hollywood doesn't give you that.

Well, of course anything Hollywood takes on - whether it has to do with Muslims or not - has way more faults than benefits... but the entertainment factor is still there.

If I'm in a serious history mood, though, I'd much rather read a good book or a lecture... Hesham al-Awadhi is my current fave lecturer... and there are loads of amazing books on Islamic history, masha'Allah.

(Speaking of which, I refreshed my memory on how the Ummayads established themselves in Andalusia and how the Abbasids took over in the Arab world - dinnertime massacre! Literally! Abu'l Abbas as-Saffaah invited the ruling Ummayads to dinner, locked the door, had his guards smash in their heads, then sat down and finished his meal.)

You can download every Youtube / Googlevideo using this link. Very simple to use!

Go to KeepVid, paste the URL link of the YouTube video into the space provided, select YouTube in the drop down menu on the right and side. Click download on the far right of the screen. This will save the video to your hard drive as a file called 'get_video' - once the download is complete, change the name to get_video.flv - Once thisis done you can change the file extention from .flv to .avi and then call it what you want so it can be played on VLC Player. From here you can convert them to DVD as FLV are converted very easily. Hope this helps!

The reluctant student seeks the help of Mohsin, an unusual, mystical Shaykh, who catapults him into a world of spiritual discovery, faith and understanding.

For thousands of years, scholars, mystics and philosophers have marvelled over The Messiah, The Prophecised Saviour of Mankind…The Mahdi; who will bring back to the world the dying values of truth, peace and justice.

The movie "313" Insha'Allah serves as an educational, Islamic tableegh project for the 21st Century.

In May 2007, Reflective Pictures (whose aim is to promote the education and understanding of the Ahlul Bayt (Family of the Holy Prophet) and Qur’anic values through the informative, entertaining and well-recognized medium of film) teamed up with the Orison Charitable Trust to shoot a film that would Insha'Allah aim to educate, remind and awaken mankind in preparation for the advent of the Saviour of Humanity, Imam Mahdi (Peace Be Upon Him).

The screenplay was completed in 2004 and went through an approval process whereby respected scholars and institutions approved the script for accuracy of facts presented within it (according to the Shia Twelver school of thought).

Funded by The Orison Charitable Trust, well-wishers and kind lenders who have loaned large sums in good faith, the film was shot in and around Hertfordshire and London with a small crew and a tight budget.

313 refers to the number of Muslims at the Battle of Badr

It is reported in the books of history that the number of companions of His Eminence, Imam Mahdi (as) who shall pay allegiance to him are the same as the number of warriors of Badr - 313.

Sulaiman bin Haroon Ajali narrated that he heard Imam Jaafar Sadiq (as) saying, "Indeed the master of this affair, that is Qaim of the Progeny of Muhammad is safe, such that if all the people go away, the Almighty Allah shall bring his companions and they are the same that are implied in the words of Allah:

"O you who believe! Whoever from among you turns back from his religion, then Alah will bring a people, He shall love them and they shall love Him, lowly before the believer, mighty against the unbelievers..." Holy Quran (5:54)

"...wherever you are, Allah will bring you altogether..." (2:148)

They shall be the companions of His Eminence Imam Mahdi (as).

That movie "313" is a load of rafidhi batil. I would not call it an "Islamic" movie.

The 313 in the title refers to the supposed number of the companions of the mahdi.
