As Salaam Alaykum Wa Rahmatullah
I started this thread to compile the quotes of scholars who were the followers of Imam Ahmed in both his madhab and aqeedah who have help him in great esteem and have had words of great praise for him. There might be sufficient literature regarding this available in Arabic but I felt that there just isnt enough available in English. This shoudlnt be difficult because as the Imam is the undisputed Imam of Ahl Us Sunnah.
It would be appreciated if soemone wrote a line or two about the person making the statement regardign Imam Ahmed, an example is below about Ali Al Madeeni.
I wanted to start by a few verses that I have heard form a student of knowledge about the Imam, I dont know who said these but I would really apprecite if soemone could tell me isnhaAllah-
"Saabiru fil Fitna!
Thaabitu fil Mihna!
Wal Imaamuhu Ahl Us Sunnah!
He was patient during the Fitnah!
He was relentless during the Mihna!
And he is the (undisputed) Imam of Ahl Us Sunnah!"
Ali Al Madeeni, the head of the "muhadditheen committee" to whom Imam Al Bukhari presented his Sahih, and upon their doubting hadith in his Sahih he would take them out without any question. This man the scholars said about him, "When Bukhari would sit in front of any scholar he would make him look like a child, but when Bukhari sat in front of Ali Al Madeeni, Bukhari would look like a child."(I would also appreiate where this quote is found and by who?? JazakAllahu Khayran) After the Mihna of 218 A.H. was over, Ali Al Madeeni seeing th magnamity of the situation made a statement, he said, "Allah gave victory to this religion twice! The first when Abu Bakr was sent against Apostates, the second was Imam Ahmed against the Mihna!"(I hope I got that on right, also where is this statement found?? JazakAllahU Khayran)
