<o></o>
In this lesson, we will learn how to join letters together.<o></o>
<o></o>
The following table shows how to join each Arabic letter to another<o></o>
<o></o>
Starting from the right, the table shows: <o></o>
<o></o>
1) the original shape of the letter on its own, followed by;<o></o>
2) the shape it takes when it joins a letter to its left only, i.e. the letter itself being the first letter of the word, joining the second letter;<o></o>
3) then the shape it takes when joined from both ends, i.e. the letter occurring in the middle of a word;<o></o>
4) then the shape it takes when joined only from its right, i.e. the letter occurring at the end of a word<o></o>
<o></o>
Ç -××× - ××× - ÜÇ<o></o>
È – ÈÜ - ÜÈÜ - ÜÈ<o></o>
Ê – ÊÜ - ÜÊÜ - ÜÊ<o></o>
Ë – ËÜ - ÜËÜ - ÜË<o></o>
Ì – ÌÜ - ÜÌÜ - ÜÌ<o></o>
Í – ÍÜ - ÜÍÜ - ÜÎ<o></o>
Î – ÎÜ - ÜÎÜ - ÜÎ<o></o>
Ï - ×××- ×××× - ÜÏ<o></o>
Ð - ×××- ×××× - ÜÐ<o></o>
Ñ - ×××-×××× - ÜÑ<o></o>
Ò - ×××-×××× - ÜÒ<o></o>
Ó – ÓÜ - ÜÓÜ - ÜÓ<o></o>
Ô – ÔÜ - ÜÔÜ - ÜÔ<o></o>
Õ – ÕÜ - ÜÕÜ - ÜÕ<o></o>
Ö – ÖÜ - ÜÖÜ - ÜÖ<o></o>
Ø – ØÜ - ÜØÜ - ÜØ<o></o>
Ù – ÙÜ - ÜÙÜ - ÜÙ<o></o>
Ú – ÚÜ - ÜÚÜ - ÜÚ<o></o>
Û – ÛÜ - ÜÛÜ - ÜÛ<o></o>
Ý – ÝÜ - ÜÝÜ - ÜÝ<o></o>
Þ – ÞÜ - ÜÞÜ - ÜÞ<o></o>
á – áÜ - ÜáÜ - Üá<o></o>
ã – ãÜ - ÜãÜ - Üã<o></o>
ä – äÜ - ÜäÜ - Üä<o></o>
å – åÜ - ÜåÜ - Üå<o></o>
æ - ×××-×××× - Üæ<o></o>
í – íÜ - ÜíÜ - Üí<o></o>
<o>
</o> If you notice, all of the Arabic letters successfully join other letters except six:<o></o>
Ç -××× - ××× - ÜÇ<o></o>
Ï - ×××- ×××× - ÜÏ<o></o>
Ð - ×××- ×××× - ÜÐ<o></o>
Ñ - ×××-×××× - ÜÑ<o></o>
Ò - ×××-×××× - ÜÒ<o></o>
æ - ×××-×××× - Üæ<o></o>
These letters are called disjoint-letters.<o></o>
<o></o>
The way to remember these letters is that they are all of the same shape, i.e.:<o></o>
Ï<o></o>
…except, of course, Alif.<o></o>
<o></o>
The only way of learning this, as is the case with other things in any language, is practice.<o></o>
<o></o>
You are expected to practice joining letters once a day, even if it be for 5-10 minutes.<o></o>
<o></o>
On the internet, though, as part of our practice, please write up to ten words that you know in Arabic!<o></o>
