Question about qisas and diya assalaamu alaikum
I was reading a discussion online regarding the death penalty. One of the obvious things to come out of it is that it is the prerogative of the heir's of a murdered victim to forgive the murderer or accept diya.
So someone asked, isn't the concept of diya problematic because the uber-rich are in a position to "buy" forgiveness where the average Joe isn't?

Re: Question about qisas and diya Interesting question, although tempting to say 'average joe should think about that before killing however that does not warrant the uber rich to murder.
