Not very surprising from what I have heard and seen from many "American Muslims"...

Anyway, alhamdulillah that there were a number of brothers who said the truth on that thread.

Perhaps it could have been explained in a different (easier, softer) way.

Perhaps it could be explained to them that if we use the "she could've said shahada before she died, we never know" as an excuse to make du'a for her, then we can also say the opposite: we shouldn't make du'a for anyone at all because we don't know if they were hypocrites all along or if they died upon kufr without our knowing.

Therefore we go by what is apparent.

Also, to be sad (naturally) about a kafir family member/neighbor's death isn't in conflict with Tawheed, right? (Related to something that someone posted in that thread.)
DISCLAIMER: Before you read any of my posts or accept any of my arguments, keep in mind that the above has been posted by an ignorant sub-layman who, in most cases, would have been better off keeping silent.

He (صلى الله عليه وسلم) would remember Allah much, and would not engage in vain talk, and would elongate his prayer, and would shorten his speeches, and he did not consider himself great enough that he would not walk with the widow, the poor, and the slave until he fulfilled their needs. - #5005, Saheeh al-Jami’ as-Sagheer

An amazingly idiotic manner in which these people try to get their point across.

    As for this:

If you are sad at her death you have endangered your Islaam.
Was not the Prophet [s] sad when his parents died? When Abu Talib died?

What idiots. Extremism getting to the head. Being sad is a natural matter.

That's Salahadeen for ya. Harsh on the believers...soft on the disbelievers [and those whose belief is doubtful]!

Hey pot, yes the kettle is black but have you looked in the mirror lately?

    The admins probably deleted it.

Basically a kafir died and some Muslims were saying "inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'oon" and expressing their sadness. Some implored others to remember her [the kaafirah] in their du'a. Others said that they made du'a to Allah 'azza wa jall to forgive her.

Someone asked, "Did she die a Muslim or not, I want to know if I can make du'a for her."
Another responded something similar to "Doesn't matter, just make du'a."

Someone responded rather harshly that it is against Tawheed and al-walaa' wal-baraa' to make du'a for her, and he went a bit far to say what Salahadeen has quoted above.

Some responded saying "We don't know if she said shahada before she died, we weren't there [on her deathbed]."

    Note: Obviously, not exact words.
    ______

It's a very common issue nowadays. Living amongst the kuffar, intermingling with them on a daily basis, and swelling their numbers while your fires are in plain sight of one another sure doesn't help.

But I remember a brother from Egypt told me that recently there is an attempt to make the Egyptians believe that "we are all one brotherhood" with the "we" being Egyptians [regardless of religion]. "Sons of the pharaohs" is a phrase I've heard (in Arabic, obviously). Even Muslims saying that crap. The media is a strong tool...

All that to blur the line between Islam (the majority of Egypt are Muslims, alhamdulillah) and the kuffar. Let nationalism and pride in the kufr and shirk of Allah's enemies the pharaohs take over. Weaken the walaa' and baraa', weaken the 'aqeedah, weaken the Tawheed...

The brother was telling me that a khateeb might have a hard time nowadays giving a khutbah about baraa' from christians and jews and clarifying the matter that they are kuffar and Ahl al-Kitaab does NOT mean they're believers, and so on. By 'hard time' I mean the govt. will be up in his case.

Another brother who is active in da'wah online to kuffar, when the brother asked him jokingly what would happen to him if he tried to do da'wah in person in the streets of Egypt (harmless da'wah of preaching Islam to the kuffar (most christians) via talking and pamphlets etc....not calling to jihad or anti-govt. or anything), he smiled and put his hands together in the universal sign of "I'll get locked up, that's what'll happen."

So even in the east, this problem exists (and the evil people wish to further it). Allahul Musta'aan.

Assalamu Alaikum, brothers and sisters the reason why i started this thread here is for the purpose of Dawah. The majority of the people who post in that forum are very unlearned and i know that if posted here no one would say the kind of things. I think we should try and post a lil bit on there too for as to educate our brothers and sisters on some aspects of FULL ISLAAM (Ya Ayyuhalatheena Aamanoo Udhkulul Islaam KaaaF Fah)
