how should women wipe their hair in wudhu according to the hanbalis?

assalamu alaikum,

when wiping the head who does a woman or man with shoulder length hair wipe since according to the madhhab one wipe is going from the front to the back and then back to front?

Walaikum Assalaam,

according to the hanbali madhab, its the portion which is on the hairline of your scalp which is wiped, so you dont wipe all your hair upto your shoulders or more, just where the hairline starts and ends on your scalp.

Wa 'alaykumussalaam,

Are you sure it is the case that a wipe is from the front to the back and then to the front? Do you mean by this valid/invalid or sufficient/complete?

It may be understood that what is meant by qarn (translated above as “the top of the head”) is the front of the head, i.e., the wiping starts at the front of the head covering all sides of it to the back of the head, i.e., he wipes his head once from front to back, and he does not bring his hands back again, to avoid messing up the hair. Al-Rubayy’i (may Allaah be pleased with her) said: Do not mess up the hair.
