Default Ibn Daqiq al-Id and Fiqh al-Hadith

I stayed up all night last night reading ibn Daqiq al-Id's Sharh of Umdat al-Ahkam for a final exam. What a genius!

The advocates of "Fiqh al-Hadith" or "Salafi Fiqh" ashould all have to read this masterful work to appreciate the depth of Fiqh. Ibn Daqiq al-Id was a great Shafi'i jurist and his work is one of the most profound ever written in Fiqh al-Hadith.

The Prophet ( ) said: "May Allah brighten the face of a man who hears my words, learns them, and conveys them as he heard them. And perhaps the carrier of Fiqh is not a Faqih."

    Something to ponder over.

But seriously, these passages would fly straight over the heads of the Salafi Fiqh masters. It's literally beyond their comprehension. Even Google Translate can't help.

Sahih al-Bukhari is best understood in English translation. Otherwise, 1400 years of Arabic-centric scholarship would not have missed out on so many "strongest opinions" and "forgotten sunnahs".

We cover it over 5 semesters. I had to revise about 100 pages for the exam.
