Re: Start of Fast times and confusions! Well yes according to the calendar, but hold on - are we not supposed to start it when new moon is seen? It's every year the same old story and every year it's a mess.
So you're going by the calendar?
I think this is a good link: http://moonsighting.com/1432rmd.html

Re: Start of Fast times and confusions! I'm basing it upon the community fasting all on Monday so following the jammah but not sure on times etc

Re: Start of Fast times and confusions! It's gotta be me who's living in the wrong country

Every single year we have a mess - Salafi guys are literally going to wait and check for the crescent moon, at least this is what it used to be, and the official Islamic Org use calendar, but how they are coming to it, I simply donno.

Re: Start of Fast times and confusions! Man why are you guys making it so complicated?! I'll just wait and see what the Sultan says on TV tonight...
"And if you obey most of those on earth, they will mislead you far away from Allah's Path. They follow nothing but conjectures, and they do nothing but lie."

Re: Start of Fast times and confusions! This is why they have experts for sighting the moon in Saudi. Not everyday Joe can sight the moon with his naked eye. It is not easy for us laymen to find the moon when it's like a hair in the sky.

Re: Start of Fast times and confusions! Green Lane's Ramadan Timetable is around an hour off the one produced by Shaykh Haitham. For Suhoor I'm going with the latter. However, the timing for Isha is also an issue with GLM starting at 10.03PM and the other timetable starting at 11.33PM.
Can I still pray Isha and Taraweeh at GLM or do I have to stick to the timetable by Shaykh Haitham?

Re: Start of Fast times and confusions! Every masjid I have researched so far are 1 hour out of the timetable produced by Haitham al Haddad. If you are going to follow that timetable I don't think you will find anywhere to join taraweeh in jama'at.
I read the article, I don't know anything about fiqh but I can't help thinking that giving this to people a day before ramadan where now they are confused as to whether to pray at the masjid with all this new information they've got is too much.Last edited by UmmKids; 1st August 2011 at 04:42 PM. Re: Start of Fast times and confusions! I was going to say, this year, alhamdulillah, I didn't even get a whiff of ikhtilaaf on when Ramadan begins round here.
It was nice.

Re: Start of Fast times and confusions! I am so confused.
In this country, fajr is according to one masjid 4.30 and according to the other masjid 3.30. Shuruk is at 6AM. (Approx. times)
So which one is the 18 degrees calculation?
