Why do Malikis believe in Forced marriage (ijbar) ?? Assalamu 'alaykum
Why does the Maliki madhab allow forced marriage? There are so many ahadith and even verses of the Quran against this, so does anyone know what evidence they use?
I looked into the matter and could not find any evidence at all to support the maliki position, not even a weak hadith.
Does anyone here know how they came to this conclusion?
And is it just the Malikis or do the Shafiis believe the same thing?

Re: Why do Malikis believe in Forced marriage (ijbar) ?? If this is true, can someone provide the Illa behind it?
They usually bring forth as evidence (which i don't understand), the Prophet (salallhu 'alayhi wa sallam) marrying 'Aisha, and 'Umar marrying Umm Kulthum bint 'Ali.æóÇóááøóå Åöäøóß áóÊóÚúáóã Ãóäøöí ÃóÚúáóã Ãóäøóß ÊóßúÐöÈ

Re: Why do Malikis believe in Forced marriage (ijbar) ?? well I still see absolutely no evidence in support of this view on that thread
it seems to be entirely baselss, and worse yet it clearly and blatantly contradicts the Quran and Sunnah
The ONLY evidence that I did find... was the Jewish book of Deutronomy chapter 25
is that where it came from????
Sahih Muslim:
Abu Said Alkhudri reported Allah's messenger (saw)
as saying: You would tread the same path as was trodden by those
before you inch by inch and step by step so much so that if they had
entered into the hole of the lizard, you would follow them in this
also. We said: Allah's messenger, do you mean the Jews and Christians? He said: Who else (than those two
religious groups)?Last edited by Sawtul Islam; 15th June 2010 at 10:50 PM.
