1st Sister Convicted Under Terrorism Act

Let us all remember this sister in our dua's and take a lesson from this tragic verdict.

    'Lyrical Terrorist' found guilty

23-year-old who called herself the "Lyrical Terrorist" has become the first woman in the UK to be convicted under the Terrorism Act.

Samina Malik from Southall, west London, has been found guilty at the Old Bailey of owning terrorist manuals.
The jury heard Malik had written extremist poems praising Osama Bin Laden, supporting martyrdom and discussing beheading.
Malik worked at WH Smith at Heathrow Airport until her arrest last October.
She had earlier been found not guilty of the more serious charge, under Section 57 of the Act, of possessing an article for a terrorist purpose. She denied the charges.

    Islamist 'library'
Malik burst into tears in the dock when the verdict was read out.

Following the verdict, Judge Peter Beaumont QC, the Recorder of London, told Malik: "You have been in many respects a complete enigma to me."

She had posted her poems on websites under the screen name the Lyrical Terrorist, prosecutors said.

Malik said the poems were "meaningless", but prosecutor Jonathan Sharp said: "These communications strongly indicate Samina Malik was deeply involved with terrorist related groups."

Police said they had found a "library" of Islamist literature in her bedroom including The Al-Qaeda Manual and The Mujahideen Poisons Handbook.

The court also heard she had written on the back of a WH Smith till receipt: "The desire within me increases every day to go for martyrdom."
Malik said she had only called herself the Lyrical Terrorist "because it sounded cool".

She was convicted of having articles "likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism".

Malik was bailed under what the judge described as "house arrest" until her sentencing on 6 December.

He warned her that "all sentencing options" remained open to him.
"We work for Allah, and as long as that is the case, we don't need anyone's support."

    This is sad.
    may Allah help her.

And let this be a lesson to all our sisters.
The ideology of alQaeda has corrupted the minds of many of our youth even sisters !

    Allahul musta'an.

p.s. I like the picture in ur avatar.
If you don't mind, could you send me a copy of it by pm? or attach it here?

    Bismillah

    As Salaam 3alaikum

Very sad may Allaah make it easy for her and support her and be with her ameen and all our other family in these positions ameen.

However what I find even more sad is the fact that she posted all this on the net, got herself into trouble and they tries to make ridiclous claims to get out of it. I havn't been in that position so I am not making any judgment nor am I saying I would have done any different may Allaah keep us from these trials, but rather I am saying wouldn't it have been better if she had just kept herself from these things rather than putting herself in a position that now has her compromising her principles and also having a major impact on her life. I know retrospect is 20/20 but I just find it so sad that a young woman has got into this over poetry, something trivial in a sense yet if it comes to the wrong attention then it can land you in alot of trouble. At the risk of sounding cliched we should all take a lesson from this inshallah. Subanallah what times we live in may Allaah keep us safe and ease this sisters affairs.
'Sorry, but I am not a lowly gangster like you guys. *I'm a professional* !!!!!!!!111111111.

    Umm 'Abdullah... your pathetic sister...

    She wasn't part of al-Qa'eda...

If anything she had a desire to defend muslims and a curiosity that reached levels of stupidity and immaturity..

Please, take your nonsense and shut up.

Too many people are being stupid these days, doing silly things that don't have anything to do with holding up the principles they believe in.

The Muslims, especially young - need to wise up.

    Abandoned-Mind, get a grip man.

Umm Abdullah, I don't think that has anything to do with the ideology of "al-Qaeda." It has to do with the government persecuting any Muslim over any petty thing they can. Yes, this sister was naive, but the oppression here is from the hands of the British government.

yes brother I know, and I agree with ur statement in bold, but I wasn't speaking about the reason why the government took her in.
I am talking about her way of thinking.
She might not be part of al Qaeda, but she is affected by their ideology, or another group that has a similar ideology, and the criminal gov used it against her.

And my statement still stands, that some of our female youth are affected by the ideology of al Qaeda.
I see it here in Saudi Arabia.

Akhi, its pathetic - cowardly people sweeping the idea of defense, under the carpet of al Qa'eda as a excuse to get away from it.

al-Qa'eda didn't invent fighting against super powers, or defending ones beliefs, principles or lands, nor did it oblige it. Nor did the idea/concept of martyrdom come from al-Qa'eda.
