Educating Muslims on the Military and Questions for the Institutes « Umar Lee
In light of the recent discussion on Muslim service in a kaafir army dedicated to killing Muslims and occupying Muslims lands I think that it would be fitting to start a counter-recruitment and education project at American masjids and college campuses to educate Muslims on why they should not join the military. This could be a good project for those MSA’s not controlled by progressive modernist forces or beholden to the “institute scholars” who are too busy cashing checks and enjoying this dunya to care about dead Muslims and occupied Muslim lands. Btw, I will ignore the ignorant and deviant supporters of Muslim service and the progressive modernist Zaytuna crowd; but one question I have for the Muslim Matters and Yasir Qadhi crowd.
Since you have found a new level of patriotic fervor regarding “our troops” and see yourselves as becoming as mainstream as baseball ( even though Im not sure if you know the difference between a ball and a strike), hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet, I have a few American questions for you.
1. The American government considers all Kashimir Mujahudeen groups to be terrorist. Do you share the opinion of your government? Will you be willing to join India, a true American partner in the war of terror, in fighting Muslim extremists?
2. The Taliban hosted Usama bin Laden before 9-11 while the attack was planned. Where you calling for the removal of the Taliban at the time?
Now, to Imam Zaid Shakir, you know I love you for the sake of Allah brother; but I just want to know when the Zaytuna crowd will leave the coffee shops, yoga clubs and beauty salons of Cali and volunteer for the Marine Corps? Obama is repealing “Dont Ask Dont Tell” so that should make it easier for some of your Bay Area students.
You see Muslims are talking about a love of the military and all of that but very few learned Muslims will ever join or even encourage others to do so.For surely, if they were so high on the service, they would offer military recruiterst the chance to sit next to the cash registers at their seminars and recruit young Muslims. What we are seeing today is a front being put on by Muslims in America for public consumption out of fear of a backlash against Muslims after the Fort Hood shooting.
My feelings on Fort Hood will be in the upcoming edition of Muslim Quarterly.
In closing, I would also like to answer the question regarding hijrah. If a Muslim is not able to make hijrah then it becomes a duty for them to spread Islam in the land they are. Therefore, as I am not in a position to make hijrah and there are many more like me, I am doing my part with others to help and spread the deen here so that one day, insha’Allah, we will replace Old Glory with the banner of La ilaha ilullah Muhammadur Rasululah on Pennsylvania Avenue in DC.
