    The Graduation Massacre

The death toll has now reached fifteen with more than half being medical school graduates and the rest being doctors and their professors plus ONLY THREE ministers. Also 3 journalists died. Journalists die in strange places indeed.

The wounded is about 50 and most are graduands.

Ha! Muslim blood sure is cheap here.

The minister of Health Moments before she was torn to pieces by a bomber. Humble in her last moment:

    An injured reporter.

    The graduation hall:

Blood of a student no doubt:

BBC News - In pictures: Mogadishu blast
    The prophet s.a.w. said,
“Do not be envious of one another, do not artificially raise prices against one another, do not turn one’s back on each other and do not undercut one another in business transaction. And O servants of Allah, be brothers. A muslim is a brother of a muslim. He does not wrong him. He does not fail him ( when he needs him). He does not lie to him. And he does not show contempt for him. Piety is here”. And he pointed to his chest three times. “ It is enough of evil for a person to hold his brother in contempt. All of a muslim is inviolable to another muslim, his blood, his wealth and his honor”. [Recorded by Muslim]

The minister of Higher Education Prof Addow. The was also the chancellor of Islamic University in Mogadishu in the past. This is a loss to the Somali Islamic ummah:

Should we feel sad for the dead ministers?
Do they not then consider the Quran carefully? Had it been from other than Allah, they would surely have found therein much contradictions (Quran 4:82)

Feel what you like. Am I supposed to tell you what to feel? Dont you have a brain for yourself to make decisions by yourself?

Wait, I forgot. You probably come from a country withhundreds of thousands of Doctors. Somalia has 1 doctor for every 25000 to 50k( depending on what numbers you trust). That makes total doctors a few hundred. The extremists massacred our doctors and you want us to be happy? This is a sad day for my people.

Thank you for reminding me that I have a brain.

If you read my question again - it refers to the dead ministers. I feel sorry if there were dead doctors.

    Re: The Graduation Massacre

You overlook the issue then, my friend Logic Lover. Look at the title of the thread. It doesnt say dead ministers or minister massacre. 9 new Doctors plus their professors were killed. Many of the best doctors in mogadishu are in critical condition.
As for the ministers I just felt to put in their pics, especially the woman minister. I see no military 'wisdom' behind all this craziness.

whoz stopping you from being a doctor?

you are such a bigoted fool... you seem to be glad in believing the shabaab did it... if killing of a 15 people is extremism, what do u call the thousands being killed in mogadishu by the amisom and the government allied militias?or may be you think the lives of thousands of somalis living in slums is not the same worth as these medical students??

may Allah(swt) rid your heart from asabiya and the love for the allies of kuffar.

Shahid.fais, you really know me dont you? Let me disappoint you and tell you that you dont. I didnt say who did it, fool, I just condemned it whoever did it. That is, if it is alshbab and alsheytan there is no difference. This continues to be a crime against Muslim Somalia. Look at these picture. This is the suicide bomber who rented a room in the hotel before the blast and came into teh room disguised as a woman and blew up himself:

    Al shabaab denied any involvement

The spokesperson of Al Shabaab denied it.
What you need to understand is that this so-called "Goverment" is in reality not united, but in fraction, & every fraction is hungry for more power.

A spokesman for al-Shabab, a Somali group opposed to the country's transitional government, has denied responsibility for a suicide bombing in the capital that killed at least 22 people.

Sheikh Ali Mohamud Rage said on Friday that his group did not target civilians and accused the government of being behind the attack.

"We declare that al-Shabab did not mastermind that explosion ... It is not in the nature of al-Shabab to target innocent people," Rage was quoted by the Reuters news agency as saying.

"We know that some so-called government officials left the scene of the explosion just minutes before the attack. That is why it is clear that they were behind the killing."

Somali rebels deny they carried out suicide bombing

MOGADISHU (Reuters) - A spokesman for Somalia's al Shabaab rebels denied on Friday that the group was behind a suicide bombing at a medical graduation ceremony that killed at least 22 people, including three government ministers.

But analysts pointed out that the bloodshed had been a PR disaster for the insurgents, and the U.N. envoy to the country said it was "outrageous" to suggest anyone else was to blame.

Doctors, students and their parents were among the dead at Mogadishu's Shamo Hotel following Thursday's attack, which was the worst in the failed Horn of Africa state for five months.

Suspicion had immediately fallen on the hard-line al Shabaab group, which is battling the Western-backed government to impose its harsh interpretation of Islamic law across the country.

"We declare that al Shabaab did not mastermind that explosion ... we believe it is a plot by the government itself," al Shabaab spokesman Sheikh Ali Mohamud Rage told reporters. "It is not in the nature of al Shabaab to target innocent people."

Rage said serious political rifts had emerged between senior figures in President Sheikh Sharif Ahmed's administration, which controls little more than a few strategic areas of the capital.

"You know there is a power struggle ... that has been going on a long time," the insurgent spokesman said.

"We know some so-called government officials left the scene of the explosion just minutes before the attack. That is why it is clear that they were behind the killing."

Western security agencies say Somalia has become a safe haven for militants, including foreign jihadists, who are using it to plot attacks across the impoverished region and beyond.

The U.N special envoy to Somalia, Ahmedou Ould-Abdallah, said insurgents had been behind most of the recent high profile acts of violence to afflict the nation.

"I think it is outrageous to suggest now that behind this killing is not the same group that killed the security minister, that attacked AMISOM (peacekeepers), that has stoned women and children to death," he told Reuters by telephone from Tokyo.

The United States accuses al Shabaab, the only Somali rebel group to have launched suicide attacks in the past, of being al Qaeda's proxy in the drought-ravaged country.

    NEW OFFENSIVE

Kamal Dahir, a Somali political analyst based in Nairobi, said al Shabaab has issued its denial very late.

"I think that, after the explosion, al Shabaab commanders were sitting for hours to finalize what to do ... We are all convinced that the nature of the bombing and tactics used were similar to the group's previous attacks," Dahir told Reuters.

"They realized it would turn the public against them, so denied being responsible to keep the little support they have."

In June, al Shabaab said it was behind a suicide bombing in Baladwayne town that killed Somalia's security minister and at least 30 other people. Then in September it struck the heart of the African Union's main military base in Mogadishu with twin suicide car bombs, killing 17 AMISOM peacekeepers.

Witnesses said Thursday's bombing was carried out by a man disguised as a veiled woman. He entered the ceremony, packed with graduates of Benadir University's medical school and their relatives before approaching the podium and blowing himself up.

Ahmed's government had been preparing for a new offensive against the rebels in recent weeks, and Thursday's carnage looked sure to heighten its frustration over delayed pledges of military and financial support from Western donors.

Fighting has killed at least 19,000 Somali civilians since the start of 2007 and driven another 1.5 million from their homes. The chaos has also spilled offshore, where heavily armed Somali pirates have made tens of millions of dollars in ransoms.

Somali Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke denounced Thursday's attack as "beneath contempt," but he said it would not deter the government from fighting insurgents.

"The loss of our ministers is disastrous, but it is an outrage to target the graduation of medical students and kill those whose only aim in life was to help those most in need in our stricken country," he said in a statement.
