Iraqi army says Iraqi al-Qaida leader arrested BAGHDAD - The leader of al-Qaida in Iraq, Abu Ayyub al-Masri, was arrested in the northern city of Mosul, the Iraqi Defense Ministry spokesman said Thursday. Mohammed al-Askari said the arrest of al-Masri, also known as Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, was confirmed to him by the Iraqi commander of the province. There was no immediate confirmation or comment from U.S. forces.
News of the arrest was also reported by Iraqi state television.
"The commander of Ninevah military operations informed me that Iraqi troops captured Abu Hamza al-Muhajir the leader of al-Qaida in Iraq," al-Askari told The Associated Press by telephone.
He did not have any further details nor did he say when the al-Qaida leader was arrested. According to unconfirmed reports, however, he was caught Thursday evening in the Tayran area in central Mosul, 225 miles northwest of Baghdad. Mosul is currently a major battleground for U.S. forces and al-Qaida.
Al-Masri took over al-Qaida in Iraq after Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was killed June 7, 2006 in a U.S. airstrike northeast of Baghdad.
U.S. officials said al-Masri joined an extremist group led by al-Qaida's No.2 official. He later joined al-Qaida training camps in Afghanistan in 1999 and trained as a car bombing expert before traveling to Iraq after the U.S.-led invasion in 2003.

Excellent news... Another Yahoodi agent caught.
Proud Rafidha. The biggest favor Allah can bestow on his creation is making him a lover of Ahlelbayt and a denier of those who oppressed them.

"If you see someone degrade any of the companions of the Prophet (Õáì Çááå Úáíå æÓáã) know that he is a Zindeeq. Because the Prophet (Õáì Çááå Úáíå æÓáã) was real, what he brought was the truth and all of it was conveyed to us by way of the Sahabah. What those people (heretics) wish to do is cast doubt on the reliability of our narrators in order to invalidate the Qur'an and Sunnah. Thus they are the ones most deserving defamation, they are the Zanaadiqah" - Abu Zur'ah al-Razi

This is like the tenth time Abu Hamza al-Muhajir has been reported to have been arrested or killed... so I wouldn't be too sure just yet.

If the reports are correct, then may Allah azza wa jal ease the burden of this brother, and that of all our brothers and sisters held in the jails of the kuffaar and their apostate allies.
Why would any Muslim celebrate the capture of one of their brothers by the kuffaar and the allies of the kuffaar? Are they pleased, then, that their brother will be humiliated and, most probably, tortured by the kuffaar?
Do they wish for their brother what they wish for themselves?"We do not want a war with Islam, we want a war within Islam." Thomas Friedman, New York Times, December 12, 2001 CE

Captured militant not al-qaeda chief: US Captured militant not al-Qaeda chief: US
The US military today denied that Al-Qaeda in Iraq chief Abu Ayyub al-Masri - who carries a US bounty of $US5 million ($5.3 million), had been captured by security forces.
US military spokeswoman Major Peggy Kageleiry said the arrested individual was not Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, whose real name according to the military is Abu Ayyub al-Masri.
On Thursday, state television Al-Iraqiya reported that a man calling himself Muhajir was captured by Iraqi forces in the northern province of Nineveh.
"They did not catch Abu Hamza al-Muhajir. Somebody with same name but not connected with him. It is not him," Kageleiry said.
