Default Michael Scheuer: Osama is Pulling Hard for Barack

Having taken a two-year hiatus from the reality of slowly losing the war to al Qaeda and its Islamist allies, Americans appear ready to elect Senator Barack Obama – a gift of epic proportions for Osama bin Laden and those he leads and inspires. Many of America’s so-called al Qaeda experts are extrapolating from anonymous chat-room e-mails that the Islamists have endorsed McCain. This line of analysis is up to their usual politically motivated and sophomoric standard and joins other daffy 2008 ideas, such as the Islamist movement’s unraveling because a jailbird terrorist has recanted radicalism, and more recently, their fevered imaginings of a theological split between al Qaeda and the Taliban. Although al Qaeda surely prefers McCain’s harsh rhetoric, the idea of Obama and his party controlling the U.S. government and maintaining their just-like-McCain’s interventionist policies abroad is – like Sam Spade’s Falcon – the stuff from which dreams are made.

Our growing legion of al Qaeda experts – most of whom make a living in Left-leaning think tanks and universities – specialize in analysis by politically motivated assertion. Thus their contention that al Qaeda prefers McCain, a claim which is mostly about scaring voters by making them believe Obama means peace and McCain means more war. This is hogwash because more war with the Islamists is on tap no matter who wins. But with Obama and the Democrats at the helm, Osama bin Laden’s strategic goals will be advanced far faster than he has ever been able to advance it himself.

Why? Because the core of al Qaeda’s campaign to drive the United States as far as possible from the Middle East hinges on two war aims, one encapsulated in the phrase “bleed America to bankruptcy,” and the other based on Ho Chi Minh’s tactic of pitting Americans against each other. The above-noted experts have generally pooh-poohed these ideas, arguing that a few dozen turban-wearing Arabs could never divide and bankrupt the world’s greatest power. Having not bothered to read the words of bin Laden, Zawahiri, et. al, the experts have missed the fact that these men admit that their own actions can only advance the Islamist cause so far, and that al Qaeda and its allies must be ready to exploit opportunities to weaken America’s political cohesion and economy that appear either because of U.S. policies or serendipitously.

Clearly, Washington and the imploding U.S. financial system it was supposed to be regulating have provided just such an exploitable opportunity, adding enormously to the financial hemorrhage initiated and sustained by the al Qaeda-caused war on terrorism. And now – in a dream almost too good to be true – Osama and other Islamist leaders are breathlessly watching the Democrats approach victory in the quadrennial daily double – the White House and both houses of Congress. Convinced that only Allah could provide such a miracle to His faithful, bin Laden and his lieutenants can only pray American voters deliver victory to them by opening the U.S. Treasury and the wages of those suckers known as U.S. workers to Obama and uncheckable Democrat congressional majorities.

Promising a trillion dollars in new federal spending and whatever its takes to halt the financial system’s dissolution, President Obama will find that he can only add such new deficit expenditures to the ongoing deficit funding that pays for the two wars he cannot stop and – given his party’s Pacificism – will not choose to win.

And in the White House and armed with an absolute legislative majority, Obama and the Democrats – bin Laden’s dream team – will find themselves forced to satisfy the non-mainstream factions that control the party not only with more spending but with policies that will further divide Americans: unaffordable and job-killing universal health care and class-strife starting tax rates for the socialists; attacks on the 2nd Amendment for the Ivy-League-bred sophisticates and Pacificists; continued open borders for the anti-U.S. human-rights mafia and the 2012 Hispanic vote; monetary reparations for slavery for the charlatan reverends Jackson and Sharpton; huge contributions to the UN, World Bank, IMF, and other multinational institutions for the one-world internationalists; liberal Supreme Court judges to protect the American Medical Association’s kill-for-profit campaign against the unborn – imagine what those good doctors already have made on 45-plus million infant murders; and energy policy focused on wind and tidal power – not nuclear power or new drilling – to satisfy the environmental fundamentalists who prefer a dead Marine to a dead Caribou.

Is it any wonder al Qaeda’s logisticians are already buying party turbans, chilling fruit juice, and preparing goat-and-onion kabobs for next Wednesday? While a McCain win would be acceptable for al Qaeda and its allies – McCain uses war-like rhetoric and is, like Obama, a rank interventionist – the election of the Illinois senator and Democrat majorities will mean al-Qaeda and the Islamists have taken a giant step closer to fracturing American political cohesion and bankrupting the United States. And, ironically, they will have done so not through their own actions, but via a gift from American voters

I personally didn't want the war in the first place as neither did many Americans... but seeing as how Bush and the republicans have wanted war for years even since the first Bush, president Bush seated himself and his comrades as the undisputed 'monarchs' of the US and proceeded with the war despite radical controversy and disapproval.... a good movie explaining the charater nad underlying motives of G.W. Bush is the new movie 'W' ..... I don't support either sides actions or rhetoric in this war... but I do understand Bin ladens desire to remove American presence from the Middle East far more.... we shouldn't be over there and look at the extent the government was willing to go to to ensure that we went to war... the lies, the deception, the forced policy...
