Question regarding Sh. Umal and Sh. Aweys

So, what is the fued between them about? I recently heard Sh. Aweys made takfir on Sh. Umal's jama'ah and Sh. Umal responded.

Does this have to do with Somalia or Kenya?

That is weird, if he made takfeer of sh. Umal - I'd definitely want to hear his proof. However, Sh. Umal did a series of lectures recently entitled -فكرالخوارج وصفاتهم واثرهم في طوائف المعاصرة- in which he took jabs at them and also at Sh. Hassaan Hussayn. Tbh. Sh. Umal and others have a very weak leg to stand on - because they are in kenya and yet still attack the mujahideen and shaykh hassaan for their fiqhi stance and pulling out the khawaarij card out. How does that look when you are a very wealthy businessmen in nairobi? Looks like you are protecting your interests and not so much the correct fiqhi view. Especially when Kenya made clear the war with Somalia whose legitimate authority are the mujahideen.

JazakAllahu khair. It seems like it has something to do with Sh. Umal's view on voting in Parliamentary election. I.e. his view is that of maslaha in certain situations. What I want to get at if the takfir is real is he placing takfir on the Muslims who vote in Kenya or those that participate in the so called Parliament in Somalia.

One thing I've notice is that unfortunately, rulings sometimes are given with a tinge of tribalism in the mix. Something that can be seen in other parts of the world.

^ I'm quite interested in this development.

I would like to know what the Sheikh rules about all these "Muslims", not just in Kenya, but in the West, who vote for the likes of Obama and Cameron or whoever else for that matter. I mean the whole world is practically at war with Al Shabbab. It is time the Ulema come out strongly against these rif raf who think that they are doing the Ummah a favour by getting ink on their fingers at a polling booth. They need to be told decisively that their tacit support for the enemies of Islam is bereft of all benefit in this life and in the next.

So please Abu Shayba, do keep us informed.
