hereandobey... the first thing you can do is take whatever they have to say with a pinch of salt. Don't worry too much about them. They are constantly changing, because Allah has deprived them of istiqama in religion. Leave them alone with what they want to do (don't go around cussing them, as that would be counterproductive), rather start up your own activities under the guidance of other students of knowledge who are still firm on what they believe and are sensible, like Murtaza Khan, Shakur, Shakeel Begg and other nice brothers.
I am not saying abandon the brothers. It's their line. All I am saying is worry not too much about what they do and say.

"Indeed, your (Madkhalis) pompous self praise has done little to stem the migration of British youth from your da'wah to the ranks of Keller, et al; to the extent that some now refuse to be identified with Salafiah" - Idrees Palmer was right
I mean, in light of this, I would much rather kiss Hamza Yusuf's forehead for tabarruk than align myself with ppl who are making hijab the subject of debate.

I think this should always keep us on our toes.... that we always make sure we are not falling into hero-worship... we do not look up to people who are living as role models. Rather we look up to those who have left us. And of course, keep ourselves checked in terms of extremism. We do not want to blindly align ourselves with a group, party or an agenda. If someone brings the truth, we accept it whole heartedly, even if he is our enemy. If someone brings falsehood, we reject it, even if he is our dearest Shaykh.
Only if we remain objective in our search for truth from day one, we wouldn't be changing and chopping our positions every minute of the day.

To be fair i must say that Usama is a very nice guy and he deserves a certain level of respect. Having said that though i was very surprised at seeing people feel sorry for him lately. I would have felt a little bit sorry for him myself if it wasn't for the fact that this change was brought about on his own accord. There was virtually no pressure on him from governmental body's. He was never a 'jihadi speaker' or someone who brought about unwanted attention.
Maybe he wanted to fit in with the co-lectures at his uni, or maybe he wanted to fit in with the neighbors, whatever the case may be , its his own doing and people shouldn't feel sorry for them.
فيا خيل الله اركبي و يا ارض الله اشهدي و يا سماء امطري و ياجنود الله هبوا و ياحملة الراية قوموا وبالجنة ابشروا
Yes, he is a nice guy to anyone who hasn't been at his receiving end. Anyway... We do not want it to become personal. There are other things I have been informed that he apparently said, but it could also be misunderstanding, and we're not digging dirt here. We do not have any personal vendetta against anyone.
If someone speaks the truth, we say he spoke the truth.
If someone makes a mistake, we say he made a mistake.
If someone utters complete nonsense, we say he is speaking complete nonsense.

abuz zubair,
has abu muntasir broken away from JIMAS? I mean, is he still salafee? I thought the whole JIMAS changed?
also can I ask where these brothers madkhali before hand?
I saw the hardtalk interview when it was one, didn't he mean to say that we should debate with the non Muslims and modernists?
i think also bro, as was clear to see, was that he was getting tongue tied. as we all would if we were in his seat.
i have spoken to Usama Hasan on more then one occasion, and I have to say he is a very sweet brother who has helped me in some issues, and i do respect him a lot and maybe he should be given some benefit of doubt. ( not saying your not)
hmmm, things like these make me think that maybe the salafees are a cult too, the whole lot of them.
its all just too confusing, I think wot we need to do is focus upon the arabic klanguage, read the Qu'ran and study with Muslims scholars. In the mean time we should ask about the affairs of teh Muslims with teh students of knowledge.

I can't take no more then 4 wives...Sorry!
What we are seeing in the UK is the complete collapse of the salafi movement.
The extremist madkhalis were bound to collapse I suppose. What is more interesting is that those salafis that were exposed to wider scholarship
with true intellectual bent, were unable to find within salafi-ism the tools
to combat those greater ideas.
I think the salafis therefore find it difficult to approach any intellectual discussion, and so they resort to what they are good at- physical violence.
The main academic schools of islam will triumph- And in britain probably because sufism is too contraversial. some form of deobandi-ism will become orthodoxy
