Wanted Afghan leader offers to send fighters to Gaza

KABUL, Jan 7 (Reuters) - A fugitive Afghan leader wanted by the United States offered on Wednesday to send fighters to help Hamas against Israel in the Gaza battling in which more than 600 Palestinians have so far died.

Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, who leads a force separate from the allied Taliban fighting NATO-led troops in Afghanistan, also urged Muslims to unite and wage war against the United States because of its financial and military support for Israel, his spokesman said.

"Hezb-i-Islami not only condemns Israel's invasion and barbarity against the Palestinians, but if the situation allows will also send Mujahideen for the defence of Hamas against Israel," Haroon Zarghon said, quoting a statement from Hekmatyar.

"We have thousands of volunteers ready to go to Gaza for war against Israel," Zarghon told Reuters by satellite phone from an unknown location.

"These men are ready to go any time and we are trying to find a way for that," he added without further elaboration.

A veteran of the war against Afghanistan's occupation by the former Soviet Union in the 1980s, Hekmtayar carries a U.S. bounty for his capture or death.

He sent some fighters to Iraq to help Sadaam Hussein in the Gulf war. (Reporting by Sayed Salahuddin; Editing by Jerry Norton)

We certainly haven't seen ar-Rabbani or as-Sayyaf talking about the American's bombing whole Afghan villages off the face of the earth, much less something like Gaza.

Rabbani and Sayyaf are both murtadeen and heads of tawagheet. The bigger their beards, the bigger their kufr. They are the true Ulama' as Suu' (evil scholars). Donkeys carrying books - as Allah said in Qur'an Sharif. Everyone fought against the russians, but then Allah sent the americans, to separate the khabith (filthy) from the tayyib (pure).

I couldn't help but ask whether you are talking about the same Hekmatyar who has allied with Iran when it was to his advantage; allied with Pakistan when it was to his advantage; allied with other Mujahideen organizations for his own advantage then once he got what he wanted, he sold them out? The same man who spent more time fighting other Mujahideen parties for power than he did fighting the enemy? The same Hekmatyar who has shifted more alliances than he has shoes? Oh, and when I say 'advantage' I do money money. BIG MONEY!

So, are we talking about the same Enginar saheb? The tall, lanky, long bearded Afghan Pukhtun who has used a cane since the 80's, stops and looks down whenever women are in passing, and speaks very softly but stares you straight in the eyes when you're being spoken to? The man who always travels with protection while most Mujahideen leaders travel freely?

As for your comment regarding Sayyaf and Rabbani goes, I agree but Hekmatyar is also bad news.

The accusations you make against this man, you will be held accountable for every single one of them - dear brother! Don't take these things lightly. I don’t have time and all the evidences, so it’s between you and Allah. I hope you have enough proof to provide in the court of Al-Ahkamul Hakimeen, and no, BBC, WIKIPEDIA, YOUTUBE will not do.

You accused him of fighting against other “mujahideen” for “power”. Did you cut open his chest to see what he was fighting for?

At the moment he is in the mountains fighting against kuffaar, whilst 90% of other previous “mujahideen commanders” are enjoying the sweetness of the $$$! Allah saved him from this fitnah. I'm not saying he is faultless and I disagree with many things he did, but we hope Allaah forgives his past mistakes and keeps him upon the siraat al-mustaqeem!
