Compilation and Description of Beneficial Islamic Websites As-Salaamu 'Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakaatuh,
I have compiled the following list due to a large number of requests for beneficial Islamic websites. I thought it may be worth posting here for benefit, and further suggestions are welcomed. Please keep in mind that this list was intended for an audience comprising of a wide range on the 'practicing' spectrum, from non-practicing, to taking a learning interest in Islam, to the spiritually learned. Hence, the list was compiled in accordance with a demand for simplicity and convenience.
Most Recommended:
IslamQA.com
Probably the most useful Islamic website, by Shaykh Muhammad b. Salih al-Munajjid, a scholar and student of Shaykh Ibn Baz. Contains a continually updated database of questions and answers, providing proofs from the Qur'an, Sunnah, and statements from the books of classical and contemporary ulama. One could find the answer to virtually any question in regards to fiqh, aqeedah, etc.
Kalamullah.Com
[Books, Articles, Video, Audio]
This website contains a wealth of material, including books published by Darussalam and other publishers, viewable in the form of PDF files for free. If one were to only visit one website on this list, due to lack of time or other reasons, it should be this one.
Hoor-al-Ayn.com | al-Ghurabaa.org
[Mostly Audios, also Books, Articles, and Videos]
Run by the same brothers as kalamullah, containing some additional material.
Iskandrani.wordpress.com
[Articles, Books]
A blog containing translated materials from classical and contemporary ulama, including Ibn Taymiyah, Ibn al-Qayyim, Abdullah Azzam, and many others. Frequently updated. Full of gems and pearls.
Saheefah.org
A very scholarly blog constructed by students of knowledge in Madinah, Umm al-Qura, and Dar al-Hadith, aimed at teaching the proper aqeedah (creed) and tawheed (concept of God; oneness or montheism), and refuting arguments used by detractors of the authentic Islamic creed (mushrikeen) in regards to worship and beliefs about Allah.
AbdurRahman.org
[Books and Articles]
A huge database of Islamic material ranging on every topic.
Also Highly Recommended:
Videos
TheDeenShow.com [Videos]
A program in which speakers are invited to talk on various subjects. New episodes are filmed and released frequently.
IslamicTube.net [Videos]
Similar to Tubeislam (see below)
TheFIKS.org[Videos]
Fundamental Islamic Knowledge & Seminary. Online courses in aqeedah, basic fiqh, conversational arabic, grammar, hadith, tafseer, and tajweed, taught by brother Abu Taubah from New York City, who studied under scholars from Mauritania.
Audio lectures and Articles
Islaam.com [Articles, Audio]
Contains a huge database of articles by scholars on topics such as knowledge, worship, da'wah, purification of the soul, etc.
IslamHouse.com [Articles, Audio, Books]
Contains what is probably the largest collection of audio lectures online, as well as articles and books in Microsoft Word or PDF format.
SunnahOnline.com [Articles, Audio]
Contains many fantastic articles and audios.
IslamicAwakening.Com [Articles, Audio]
Contains a huge (and continually updated) database of articles by various authors, as well as frequent updates on the news, as relevant to Muslims.
Articles
IslamReligion.com [Articles]
Website containing a wealth of engaging and beneficial articles. Good for Muslims as well as non-Muslims.
Islam-Guide.com
In the form of a website, the famous treatise on Islam and proofs from science, history, and the life of the Prophet (saws), A Brief Illustrated Guide to Understanding Islam. Though not as scholarly as Dr. Brown's books (see below), nevertheless great for da'wah, and distinguished for its concise and readable presentation.
More websites specifically intended for the purpose of downloading free books (in addition to Kalamullah):
IslamBasics [Books]
Books of Islam [Books]
Islam E-books [Books]
Thread from TurntoIslam.com [Books]
Qur'anic Resources:
Tafsir.com

Websites of Shaykh Yusuf Estes:
ShareIslam.com
Most of his other (many) websites can be found through this link, including websites dedicated entirely to specific topics, such as GodAllah.com, ProphetOfIslam.com, AllahsQuran.com, ScienceIslam.com, IslamBible.com, IslamCode.com, FastRamadan.com, 2eids.com, PerfromHajj.com, IslamsWomen.com, AboutJihad.com, and SearchForIslam.com

TubeIslam.com [Videos]
A website containing a large collection (constantly updated) of authentic Islamic videos, in which members upload videos which are subsequently approved for Islamic content by moderators before being posted.
AllahsQuran.com
See description above.
HearIslam.com [Audios]
Containing clips and lectures from speakers such as Shaykh Yusuf, Salem al-Amry, and others, regarding a variety of topics.
Dr. Laurence Brown
www.leveltruth.com
The website of Dr. Laurence (Abdullah) Brown. Contains a number of engaging articles, and information about his books, which in my opinion, offer the most scholarly and compelling cases for Islam as the completion and final revealed manifestation of the teachings of the prior prophets, such as Abraham, Moses, and Jesus. Unfortunately, they remain relatively unknown, despite their value. I wrote more about his books, here.
They can be found on Amazon.com, and are as follows:
The First and Final Commandment
Dr. Brown's original book.
MisGoded and Goded
Same material, revised and supplemented with new information, and divided into two books.
Sample Pages: MisGoded | Goded
The Eighth Scroll
Historical novel, offering insights into the Dead Sea Scrolls, the teachings of Jesus Christ and his earliest followers, and the situation of the monotheistic faiths. Website here.
Bearing True Witness
Primer for new Muslims, intended to guide them through the issues that often perplex converts to Islam, such as the fiqh of the madhabs, aqeedah, Sufism, and other issues. Geared primarily towards Western converts.
Speakers and Lectures
Finally, I would like to draw attention to (some) speakers who I feel are worthy of attention. The best of their lectures can be found easily on kalamullah.com and hoor-al-ayn.com. Lectures from these speakers can also be conveniently found on www.halaltube.com. It should be noted, however, that not all of the speakers on halaltube are authentic or reliable.
Under the name of some speakers, I included the titles and links to lectures which I personally enjoyed and found benefit from. Of course, authentic and engaging speakers are by no means limited to this list. Please see kalamullah and hoor-al-ayn (under "lectures") to see which speakers are worthy of benefiting from.
Their lectures, either in audio or video format, can be found elsewhere on the internet, such as by simply typing their name into Youtube, Tubeislam, or Islamictube.

Yusuf Estes
[ HearIslam / WatchIslam / TubeIslam ]
In regards to books for English speakers, among the first books I would recommend would be The Fundamentals of Tawheed by Bilal Philips. This book will acquaint the reader with the correct Islamic theological beliefs, and give him or her a strong basis in the most fundamental tenet of Islam, tawheed. The book can be purchased here or read here for free. What is distinctive about Dr. Bilal Philip's books is his ability to break down concepts on virtually any topic into easy terms for a reader. The information contained in this book is also present on the saheefah.org blog, listed above.
I also highly recommend any book by the legendary scholar, Ibn Taymiyyah, and his student, Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah - on virtually any topic. Books may be listed by topic or author on a number of websites listed above.Last edited by Sharif; 8th November 2009 at 01:53 AM.
