Allah, the Exalted, says:
ÃóáóÇ áóÚúäóÉõ Çááøóåö Úóáóì ÇáÙøóÇáöãöíäó
No doubt! The Curse of Allah is on the zalimun (mushrikeen, wrongdoers, oppressors) (11:18)
And He says:
ÝóÃóÐøóäó ãõÄóÐöøäñ Èóíúäóåõãú Ãóä áøóÚúäóÉõ Çááøóåö Úóáóì ÇáÙøóÇáöãöíäó
Then a crier will proclaim between them: ‘The Curse of Allah is on the zalimun (7:44)
It has been authentically reported, in either Bukhari, Muslim or both, that the Messenge of Allah (salalahu ‘alayhi wasalam) said:
1. “Curse of Allah is upon those women who wear false hair, and those women who prepare such.”
2. “Curse of Allah is upon the one who eats riba (usuary, interest).”
3. “Curse of Allah is upon him who makes changes in land boundaries (to
deprive others).”
4. “Curse of Allah is upon the thief who steals (even) an egg.”
5. “Curse of Allah is upon the one who curses his parents.”
6. “Curse of Allah is upon the one who sacrifices an animal for other than Allah.”
7. “Who invents heresies in religion here (al-Madinah), and upon those who supported him, is the Curse of Allah and the angels and all the people.”
8. “O Allah! Curse be upon Ri’l, Dhakwan and ‘Usaiyyah (three tribes of Arabia) who are disobedient to Allah and His Messengers.”
9. “Curse of Allah is upon the Jews who turned the graves of their Prophets into places of worship.”
10. He (salalahu ‘alayhi wasalam) cursed the painters of pictures of living things.
11. And he (salalahu ‘alayhi wasalam) cursed those men who imitate women and those women who imitate men.
Imam an-Nawawi classified these under the chapter “Justification of Cursing the Wrongdoers without Specifying one of them”. Some of these curses imply prohibition of certain acts, such as cursing parents, while others imply the permissibilty of incuring the Curse of Allah upon the kufaar who are at war with Islam and the Muslims.
A warning and a reminder:
æáÚä ÇáãÄãä ßÞÊáå
“And cursing a believer is like murdering him” (Bukhari and Muslim)
May Allah give us control over our tongues.
