Default Definition for Muslim country or Muslim land

    As-Salaam 'Alaikum

What is a Muslim country is in terms of definition.

Is it a country that applies the shari'ah?, is it a country that is overwhelmingly populated by muslims?, is it a country where you can practice many aspects of Islam?

My personal home-made definition is as follows:

Muslim land = A land where the majority of the people are muslim.

Islamic land = A country which applies the Shari'ah.

yea I agree with this! ^ But a muslim land should be a land where shari'ah is applied! Lyk der shudnt have 2 be seperate termz used, if that makes sense! But lol I cud understand 4 this day and age where there are a lot of "muslim lands" but not really Shari'ah, which is why the terms have to be seperated!

i would say a country that muslims have conquered after the Prophet's (PBUH) death.....but that brings in the Spain problem.

inshaAllah it will be Muslim country again, through peace-ful means......hehehehe

I would say use the term 'Islamic' State. This encapsulates the Shariah Law.
Whereas 'Muslim Country' is an ambiguous term.
