I haven't been to this forum in over a year. I'm very saddened that my old friend Suhaib has become an Ash'ari and a Sufi. While the Murabitun are completely right about the banking system and the evils of modernism and perennialism, their aqeedah and sufi practices are rotten to the core.
"Verily, the first thing which Allah Most High created was the pen, and He said to it: "Write;" and in that very hour all what was to occur (was written) up to the Day of Resurrection." - Al-Musnad
From reading a large portion of this forum I am not suprised people are flaming each other so harshly.
Grow up , shrink your ego's and remember that every deed is judged by intention.
Some people follow only the sahih hadith and Quran with the intention of following what they know is pure.
Some people follow a madhhab with the intention of following what they know is pure.
Some people form groups of like minded people to be in a jamaat they deem as pure.
The muslim world is in a weak state, ie no khalifate, no state, bitter disputes and ethical decline.
The formation of such groups serves the benefit of the indiviiduals within them to adhere to what they deem as pure. Who are we to judge them with our mental capacity? Nobody would follow something knowing it was incorrect unless they were heedless. Saying sufi group dhikr practices are so bad and incorrect is slightly hypocritical in the regard that all people do practices the prophet didn't do. You may be downloading Sabily the muslim operating system for pc thinking oh yes this is my Amal. Listening to some cheesy nashid by some guy with a synthesised voice. Using Miswak flavoured toothpaste. Who knows what bizzarre practices we all do thinking it's some how close to the sunnah but they are all innovated.
Why should we prevent people from doing Amal in the way they want? We all know the basics of Islam and I guarantee this groups followers practice them. Why prevent them from adding beautiful peripherals onto their base deen?
Alhamdulilah im not a sufi. Alhamdulilah im not a sufi. Alhamdulilah im not a sufi.
