Again, if one wants to know the reality of a group then seek them out personally and sit with their fuqara. Don't rely on hearsay from people with an obvious agenda of their own (including yourself). Verily, Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) is with the Sabireen who seek out people and verify matters for themselves.

I have been undertaking an intensive study of the Shadhili-Darqawi tariqa with some teachers, but have not been formally intiated as of yet. And why put it in quotation marks? Knowledge and practice of the Deen have been transmitted down from generation to generation, with an impressive pedigree which extends back to the first three generations. A huge number of Sufi scholars and teachers are descendants of the Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam), which certainly cannot be said about the "Salafis".

Yup and each time morphs into their poster boy, adopting their views, rhetoric and general ignorance.

That is why it is so hard to take him seriously, it is the same old rhubarb just in a different garb.

I know people in Murabitoon, have read their literature, sat with them, listend to a few of the lectures of their shaykh etc etc. It isn't all based on hearsay.

Also the incident in Spain was confirmed by 4 normal none 'salafi' brothers, they also had some of it video taped. It is hard to mistake men and women dancing saying 'Allaahu Huw' and singing Queen's greatest hits in Spanish Suhaib but keep yourself in denial.

What does this have anything to do with? It is a worldwide movement of Muslims seeking to implement the Amal Ahl al-Madina. Some of their strongest da'wa efforts have been in Chiapas and South Africa. It is true that most of their leaders are European reverts to Islam, but should we not be joyous for the spread of Islam? They have a presence in many European countries but likewise in Morocco, Malaysia and some other countries as well. Why bring race into it when we all know it is both divisive and irrelevant?

No, their "thing" is a comprehensive practice of the Deen which includes an opposition to the ways of kufr, including the banking-system which is founded on riba and the like. That is definitely one aspect, but they are actually comprehensive unlike the various groups of "Salafis" who remain divided over specific issues (such as one group which restricts itself to Jihad and making takfir, while another one is focused on "manhaj" and expelling others from the fold of Salafiyya). Why are these not obsessions?

If you actually believe this, then I certainly pity you for you have fallen for ridiculous rumors circulated by people with an obvious agenda who care not to actually verify their information.

Hence, they read their own nonsense into Islam- while seeking legitimation from 'sufi' shyukh (many of who also take bay'ah from non-muslims, so really it is no legitimacy).
You are appallingly ignorant of what you speak about! The works of the leaders of Murabitun are actually filled with criticisms and refutations of the Perennialists. There is no group of Muslims who have devoted as much to this matter than have Murabitun. There is an entire chapter on the matter in Sidi Umar Vadillo's The Esoteric Deviation. Should I link you to various writings of their leaders criticizing the Perennialists? Do a search on this forum for "Haddad" or "Vadillo" and relevant information will certainly pop up, insha'Allah.

That they are viciously attacked from the Perennialists and their advocates among the so-called "Sufis", but also by their alleged opposites from the literalist "Salafis", speaks much about the agenda which both groups seem to harbor against Murabitun. If one gets attacked from two extremes, then certainly one is doing something right....

Just look at their pedigree. Do you dare call any of these teachers - many of them from the Household of the Rasulullah (sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam) - "non-Muslims"?! Woe be upon you, for you have uttered a calamity.

Seek out the people if you want to know what they are truly about. I can only say from my experience that I have been speaking closely with one of their members, a student who advised that I seek out some traditional scholars about two hours away from me, who do not belong to Murabitun but whom he praised. By definition, this is certainly not a "cult" which refers seekers to spiritual teachers who do not belong to them. My teacher's focus (in referring me to teachers closer to my city) has solely been on the implementation of the Deen and transmission of the knowledge, and not whether they belong to Murabitun or not.

Avoid the personal insults and the taunts, people.
DISCLAIMER: Before you read any of my posts or accept any of my arguments, keep in mind that the above has been posted by an ignorant sub-layman who, in most cases, would have been better off keeping silent.
