Real world activism

Does anybody here ever do any serious real world Islamic activism or is everyone a keyboard warrior?

with all of the global struggles and trials and tribulations, you ask if there is any real world activism?

I do have a demanding job. I work as an engineer and businessman. Therefore I am not in a position to devote all my time and effort to activism. I have to fit it in around my paid employment and personal life.

I'm dissatisfied with all Islamic internet forums, actually. My prediction seems to be correct in that their users overwhelmingly prefer to spend time on a computer rather than participating in activities in the real world. I hazard a guess that fewer than 1% of all adult Muslims in the UK are registered users of an Islamic internet forum and I cannot say that any Muslim I have had involvement with over the past year or so uses them although a few have used them occasionally in the past. Personally I think I'm out of sync with the viewpoints and objectives of many regular users of IA. Not that there is actually anything wrong with my own views and objectives. It all comes down to a horses for courses situation. I have not achieved what I originally set out to achieve, and given the profile of the audience I am dealing with, probably will not. Another concern I have with all Islamic forums is that giving pep talk is what wins respect and support from other users whereas highlighting inconvenient truths doesn't. Some users like myself deliberately choose to go down the avenue of focusing on inconvenient truths as I believe it is the right thing to do. Face up to serious problems rather than live in a fool's paradise all the time. Act rather than merely talk.

A few weeks ago I raised a question about whether Muslims would be better off using computers or print media. Nobody has answered it yet. Why? A local revert came out with a very interesting statement. So interesting that more than one non-Muslim I associate with said so. He mentioned that as Muslims live in communities we can continue to exchange information successfully via word of mouth and through our own print media like we have done for centuries. The kaafirs are the people who require the internet to exchange information because they tend to be individualistic and do not have the benefit of interpersonal connections like the Muslims have.

i have been asking brothers for years to do something with all of these internet forums, and when Allah wills, something will come of them

but before we DO anything, we have to have common understandings, and we have not come to that level yet. we debate the most benign of things to the point of virtual hatred towards each other

however, the reality of our world is that many of us have many ideas, but each day you see how many brothers who have gone forth and they are being taken away from us by the beast.

hence, it is time for us to focus on getting our heads together and learning from the mistakes of those before us and formulating a game plan

you say you pass out leaflets? thats nice, and there are other things people can do, but are we talking demonstrating, protesting, begging the kuffar, or are we talking about doing something more beneficial to the ummah?

Bro Riaz, you're not boasting. You're telling us what you're already involved in to show people that you want to get involved in even more Real world Activism with like-minded people.

Based on my experiences, arguing with people in this thread isn't worth it. Might aswell use your efforts and time in achieving more in what you already excel in. That way you are advancing your already existent skills, and can become a leader in that field. May Allah be with you in goodness, always, ameen.

Asalaam Alaykum, what is meant by real world activism? Are you talking about Dawah? Are you talking about feeding the poor? Coming to the aid of all distressed brothers, their widows and orphans? I guess to gauge whether someone is involved in real world activism or just a keyboard warrior, you need to be a little more specific of what you are talking about....

I pray that Allah (SWT) will enable me to do more than what I am because the kaffir system shackles us from truly living according to the Deen fully, other than within our hearts....

All of this. It doesn't have to be of the jihad variety.
