“And come not near to unlawful sex. Verily, it is immoral sin and an evil way.” (Ayah 32, Al Isra)

How often is it that we, as Muslim Students studying at University, are faced with the Fitan of a society steeped in disbelief? Do we fall into it or do we persevere?

The first and foremost of these tribulations, is the one of gender interaction. Abu Hurayrah RadhiAllaahu 'anh reported that the Prophet Sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam said:

“The son of Adam has his share of Zina decreed for him, and he will commit that which has been decreed. The Zina of the eyes is looking; the Zina of the tongue is speaking; the Zina of the ears is listening; the Zina of the hands is striking; and the Zina of the feet is walking. The soul wishes and desires, and the private parts confirm or deny that.” (Bukhaari and Muslim)

mashallah they address this important topic, especially as many isocs are becomming known as hook up locations for single brothers and sisters, too often you see 'practicing' brothers and sisters walking around in couples of even big groups chatting like there is nothing wrong.

i went down to this uni once as needed to speak to the speaker of one of their talks before he left the country, and i saw the oddest thing at a bus shelter... 2ndary school muslim kids, all decently covered. the young women waiting for the bus at the bus stop, the young men about 5m away, in a different group, and no older people enforcing it, it was something they were doing themselves.

i also recieved lots of salaams, and saw brothers lowering their gaze a lot, yes a lot of fitnah and usual asian idiots misbehaving, but the practicing brothers and sisters there seemed to be really good from my few hours of being there.
