    Does anyone have the original reference to a quote, I think by Ali (RA) that Umar (RA) had set the standard so high as khalifah for his successors? It's mentioned by Sheikh Anwar in the series on Umar (RA).

    This statement is more known to be said by Umar bin al-Khattab and Ali bin Abi Talib to Abu Bakr (رضي الله عنهم).

    It is mentioned in history books but you can find the quote that has been said by Ali to Abu bakr in al-Tabsirah by Ibn Al-Jawzi
