My opinions:
I remember when i first joined this forum, i thought it was jam packed with loads of students of knowledge and it seemed that alot of people here were in their late 20s or 30s. So i'd see that some people did say some offensive stuff, but i felt it would be less harm than the benefit. I believed it was a good place to find out what true Islam was, maybe a way to find out what's wrong from what's right against ash'aris etc.
After i've joined, after seeing alot of the comments, i've seen that alot of us are youth below the age figure i imagined, and alot of us have only a tiny amount of knowledge. Many criticize other forums [i.e. ummah forums etc], where - i agree - there is a certain level of fitnah, but i believe there is a form of brotherhood amongst the muslims there - something which i see lacking here.
I also see that because we've been given the freedom to talk whatever we want, we criticize each other so much [even on threads with good news!], and i ask myself - do you only do that because you feel you've achieved something against your brother? Then why can't you use that energy for dawah outside this forum for a greater benefit for the muslims? If its so easy to criticize your brother, then dawah outside the forum should be even easier, and if you can't do that - then atleast give annoyance to those who attack Islam instead of your own brother who has more rights over you. You will get rewarded for that more than sitting in one forum doing the same criticism against Muslims all day.
The great majority of us waste so much time here only on typing or reading useless comments, and we give so much freedom to these, and to those who belong to other sects [with the same arguments repeated every day!] - that i wonder whether we can even have an awakening on these forums alone, let alone the islamic awakening.
How many times does the muslim who has better manners get drowned out by the ones who continuously cause a greater fitnah?
I've noticed that the sites which have a certain set of rules to control peoples adab [manners] produce more better and impacting people, simply because they are moulded that way by the majority. Yes, the real world might not be based on total rules, but hiding behind a computer makes someones evil side come out - something which they would fear to do in real life. So you have to have these rules to achieve a greater impact, pushing those who cause fitnah [sectarian or otherwise] down - so the figures of righteousness's voice is heard, which has a greater impact on the masses here.
That might, cause an awakening here, a source of unity on righteousness, and that may be the source of the true Islamic Awakening.

Wakee' ibn Jarrah once said, 'The intelligent one is he who understands the ways of Allah, not him who has understood the ways of this world.'

I had no hopes of this forum contributing to a global islamic awakening.
All that I saw is a google adsense awakening.
Hasan al-Basree (rh) said, when he heard a group of people disputing, “These ones have tired of worship, speaking has become easy for them and their piety has diminished, so they talk.”

In all honesty I found this forum after there was this documentary on television and I remember this website being mentioned on there and some points were raised with regards to the views of some muslims. Therefore, being a muslim myself I was curious with regards to what this forum was about. Finally, I read some threads and joined soon enough!

In defense of Islamicawakening.com I must say this is by far the best Islamic forum on the web that I know of.
I've learned a lot here from the knowledgeable brothers A.Z, Abu Maryam pk, justabro, Harris Hamam to name but a few (sorry to those who didn't make my list, you know who you are, brother from nepal
)
Discussions here might run wild sometimes, but the topics that have been dealt with here have not even been touched upon elsewhere.
The fact that all are welcome here is a positive thing as it gives us an insight into the beliefs, methodology of other sects, this is not an insular forum.
Whilst I myself have criticised the lack of rules I think overall it has been a positive thing in that the haq is always made clear through strong evidences and arguments against heretics and kuffar instead of relying on draconian rules to muffle the opposition, as is the case with so many other forums.
All in all islamicawakening is da bomb. MasahaAllah
Thumbs up from the wazman

this forum is beset by small talk and banter, the type of socialising one would expect on facebook.
Zionism is to the Palestinian what Nazism was to the Jews
