Contraception in Pakistan?
a close friend of mine is planning to travel to pakistan to get married. He is 18 mashaAllah and his wife to be is 16. For obvious reasons he doesnt want to have kids yet but has no idea what types of contraception are available in pakistan. He is hoping they offer the pill there or injections for women as he doesnt want to use other methods. He cant speak to his family about it because they are the average backward yardie type family.
any useful and beneficial responses will be appreciated, by the way he is from dadyal area so if you know of any clinics please let me know.

Dont know about Pakistan, but pills and injections can really mess you up...

Re: Contraception in Pakistan?
ok...most contraceptives are dangerous for your health...there are 3 safe ones in usa that maybe in pakistan (i dont know because i am not there) the nuva ring, cannot harm her at all unless she smokes, copper t,and the regualr t.there the safest because they dont release hormones.the nuva ring does have hormones but they dont go into the blood stream, and it is a monthly ring that is used to stop sperm from going anywhere..without getting to in detail...also to add i only posted this with the 16yr old sister in mind,so that insha Allah she can get to the mature age to give birth and not mess up her body. She is still young, old enough to have sex but it is disputed if it is saf efor her body to be pregnant and give birth at this age.the pills i think are the worst, there is one that when you breastfeed it serves as a hormonal free birth control but to get that one you have to have just given birth....my best suggestion is nuva ring instead of the t family.i think they are called " i u e 's" not exactly sure..but i hope this helps....look into the nuva ring, maybe they could get it here in america ,have her go to the doctor first then they will perscribe it for her it requires a physical every 6months ,like nay doctor.

Re: Contraception in Pakistan?
If her female relatives have any sense then they will arrange for her to visit the doctor and get some oral contraceptive. My wife did this by herself as she was due to begin her period around the days of our nikah and she was using this to delay her period.
Also, tell the brother to take it easy. He's lived without sex for 18 years of his life, a few days more will not hurt, and then maybe they can visit a doctor together. It will also make his wife feel much more at ease and they can then discuss the matter together.
OTOH, if she is completely uneducated she could throw an absolute wobbler when the issue of contraception is proposed. My wife told me a story of a family who do not educate their daughters (due mainly to an extreme poverty) and when one of them was married her husband proposed using condoms and this girl thought he was trying to poison her or something. She threw such a tantrum that many people became aware of this situation.

Re: Contraception in Pakistan?
Let him use a contraceptive barrier, these pills cause all sorts of problems to the cervix and her well being.
I dont know what the obvious circumstances are, but if they are both healthy they should start their family.

Re: Contraception in Pakistan?
blood clots are very serious, the sister is young and these drugs can effect her fertility.especially the ones to delay her period.thats for women who dont like having a period so they get it less, these things can cause so much damage.if the reasons are the age then wait a year and try to start Allahu Alim.I think if you are getting married you should talk to your sheihk about delaying having children for some reason and he may tell you if it is permissible or not,i know in some cases it is.i had my children too young and my second came out premature Al Hamdulilah she is fine now and big ,but young pregnancy gave me health problems during my pregnancy because my body was not finished developing.

Re: Contraception in Pakistan?
I am aware of the dangers and thankfully my wife did not need them. However, I think it would be a rather nasty surprise for a man to approach his wife and she is "unavailable" to him. Just my opinion.
OTOH, it is not unknown for brides to be overcome by the pressure of the situation and end up on their period anyway.
Anyway, we digress from the original question. I would of course suggest that if birth control is absolutely required to just use condoms. They are widely available and widely used by married men, usually in preference to oral methods. The other method usually used over there is the coil but this is not suited to everyone and according to my wife only the worst of husbands demand this from their wife.
