    Default Eczema Problems

    As salaam alaikum

I pray you are all well, when my nephew was born he suffered with severe eczema, his mother tried everything from steroid creams to herbal treatments and special diets. Eventually after the age of 3 he grew out of it Alhamdulillaah.
Now at the age of 12 his eczema has come back and getting worse by the day, he's currently on a wheat and dairy free diet. He's also been given some strong steroid based creams and the doctors and specialist have just advised him to continue using the creams as there's nothing more they can do.
He knows he's being tested by Allaah and he's trying to be patient, I
was just wondering if anyone else has experienced severe eczema in adulthood or know of someone whose been through this and if there's any names of treatments or creams they can recommend my nephew to try.
He has also had ruqiya done on him as we did fear he had been afflicted with the evil eye.

Any advice would be much appreciated, jazaak Allaahu Khairan

Please remember him in your duaas

'alaykum as-Salaam wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuhu,

It's flaring for several reasons, due to hormonal changes and stress being two major factors. I was skimming through a beauty/health magazine and an article mentioned how eczema and other skin flare-ups are reduced with meditation and avoiding stress. The first thought that came to me was Sabr & Salaah, and a heap of Tawakkul.

Ask your nephew to get into a certain routine that keeps him positive and stress-free. He should start drinking Green Tea and taking Fenugreek pills. He should also open the Fenugreek capsules and mix a dash of the powder in his creams before applying them at nighttime. He should exercise and keep an active lifestyle that will help release endorphins.

Every person has some test and needs to accommodate to his/her own body's needs. He should not allow this to make him feel inferior. In fact, the people that empower and inspire me most are those who walk around proudly with their scars because they love how Allaah subhaane wa ta'ala has made them and take the challenge of giving their body its full rights rather than moping and putting themselves down for something they cannot change.

Tell him to avoid cigarettes and people when they smoke. It will also be better for him to live in a less polluted area. Have air purifiers in the house. Does he have breathing problems (ie: sinuses, asthma)? Get his sinus issues checked and if any, then resolved with the proper steps and medicine. Sinuses have a lot to do with skin problems. He (and therefore his skin) should be breathing comfortably.

I suggest he use natural oils (example) for his skin. There are a wide range of products out there alhamdulillah. Manuka honey oil is really good, so are vitamin fortified oils. They're light on the skin so can be worn & reapplied all day. And tell him not to "hide" his eczema with make-up. It doesn't work, only worsens it.

Let him try a gluten free diet.

    Also, black seed and honey.

Also, let him try drinking natural juices. Get a juicer and juicer things. Parsley, spinach, apples, oranges, etc etc.

If it is evil eye, it doesn't mean you do ruqya once and that's it it's done, keep doing it. And even if it isn't evil eye, The Qur'an has cure for everything in shaa Allah.

    Asalamualaykum wr wb

A friend of mine has a son with severe eczema, he literally cant sleep because he just itches and itches all night. She tried everything under the sun untill she was recommended by another sister who used a cream called Magic Cream. I believe its a chinese cream, it comes in a small pot and its a bit pricey but she said you only use a tiny amount any way. After a couple days of using it she noticed a big difference and she said its the only thing that shes used on her son where shes noticed such a big difference in such a short space of time. I think its this one but let me ask her and double check inshallah and find out where she got it from. http://www.magicream123.com/buynow.html

Has she tried hijama? Hijama is excellent for eczema. Hijama releases toxins from the body and improves blood circulation as well as many other benefits. Get the boy to have a few hijama sessions inshallah and with the permission of Allaah it'll cease. Allaah swt hasnt sent down any illnesses or disease without giving us a cure so seek the cure.

Get a humidifier in the house, central heating takes all the moisture out of the air, and in the winter it makes eczema go nuts. A humidifer from Argos costs around 50 and puts moisture back in to the air in the house and stops the skin drying up so bad.

Also try neem oil, I hear it works really well.

Nothing is more important than keeping the skin moisturised.

I have pretty severe psoriasis that first came out when I was 7 years old. It's not excema I know, but it is very closely related. I was given a while raft of steroidal creams which worked very well along with phototherapy. It went away completely for a few years, then came back at age 14(what fun that was), it went away with the same treatment then unfortunately came back to stay at age 21. Most treatments for these kind of things have pretty bad drawbacks. Steroidal cream once stopped causes something called steroid rebound which makes the skin problem come back with a vengeance.
One thing that helped me a lot when I was a teenager was to exercise everyday, eat healthy and take essentially fatty acid oil mixtures. The fatty acids are supposed to help the skin repair and regulate the problems associated with these conditions. From what I understand, a healthy lifestyle is crucial which I imagine would be tough for a 12 yr old, but that is what I've found. Also, someone mentioned gluten free; this is also apparently shown to help as well.
