Re: Beneficial Reminders Ibn al-Qayyim said:
"Whoever does bad to you and then comes to excuse himself, then humbleness requires that you accept his excuse be it true or false, and leave his true affair to the care of Allah as Allah's Messenger did when the hypocrites who did not go out with him in the expedition, so when they came to him making excuses he accepted their excuses and he entrusted their true affairs to Allah."
Ibn al-Qayyim Hayatuhu Wa Atharuh (p. 24)
(as cited in The Biography of Imam Ibn al-Qayyim)

If only our skins were cut up into peices The Prophet ( ) said: "On the Day of Resurrection, when people who had suffered affliction are given their reward, those who were healthy will wish that their skins had been cut to pieces with scissors whilst they were in the dunya." (Tirmidhi)

I was distracted by the other fire A fire once broke out in a house where Ali bin al-Husayn ( ) was in sujood (i.e. prostrate) whilst praying . He didn't raise his head until the fire went out. When asked about this he said: "The other Fire kept my mind busy." (Al-Takhweef min al-Naar)

Help me get away from hell! The Prophet (ﺻﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ) said: "Whoever wishes to be distanced from the Fire of Hell, and be admitted into Paradise, let him die believing in Allah and the Day of Judgment, and let him treat people in the way which he would like to be treated." (Ibn Hibban, Baiyhaqi)

Re: Beneficial Reminders The planning of The Almighty (Allaah) is better for you than your own planning, and He could deprive you from what you ask to test your patience. So let Him see from you a determined patience and you will soon see from Him what will give you joy. And when you have cleaned the paths of answering (of supplication) from the stains of sin [i.e have repented] and were patient about what He has chosen for you, then everything that happens to you is better for you whether you were given or deprived of what you have requested."
Ibn Al-Jawzee
