Re: Short thoughts A person who truly loves Jihad should be like the fish to water. It can't wait to get to the water, and when it is plucked out of the water, it feels as if it's world is about to end, and it's going to suffocate. So the fish does everything in it's power to jump back into the water, because it's love is it's life - and the only way it can stay alive. Likewise, the hadeeth about the branch of hypocrisy is the same. The one who does not participate, nor loves and tries to participate with complete devoted intention - dies on a branch of hypocrisy. The first part of that is clear, with regards to those who don't fight. But everyone claims they love & have the true intention to fight. Yet this intention is merely a facade for most of us, and most people have never truly intended this, nor truly understand what this love and intention really entails. That of a fish doing everything it can to get to the water. So, let's ask ourselves. Do we really love Jihad to the point where we don't fall into the category of Nifaaq? Or is it just something we tell ourselves, without acting upon it - unlike the analogy of what true love of Jihad is for a believer; like that of a fish trying to get to water.

Indeed, Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and their properties [in exchange] for that they will have Paradise. They fight in the cause of Allah , so they kill and are killed. [It is] a true promise [binding] upon Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur'an. And who is truer to his covenant than Allah ? So rejoice in your transaction which you have contracted. And it is that which is the great attainment.
(Surah at-Tawbah 111 - 111 )

Re: Short thoughts "Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realise they were the big things." - Robert Brault
The was a Muslim mum whose husband died, and so she had to go out to work. Things were tough and so they had to cut back on luxuries, including meat and other items. As a treat, the mum would sometimes make a meal of a few eggs, rice and potatoes all mixed up.
Times changed and Allah improved their condition - as he does - and so they were then able to afford all the luxuries they wanted once again.
One day, a small daughter of hers asks: "Mum, why don't we have that egg mean anymore?"
"Because we are OK now and can have whatever we want now," said the mum.
"But I used to love that meal." She said.

Re: Short thoughts Bro JazakAllah khair.
Great reminder but this thread is for thoughts YOU thought of.
On the authority of Abu Hurairah the Prophet (upon him be peace) said:
"Do good to your parents and your offspring shall do good to you."
Al-Haakim has narrated it and said: "Its chain is Sahih", ["Ghada'a Al-Albaab", 2/439]

Re: Short thoughts ^^^ Love the sig bro, I remember seeing a Yusuf estes video on this very issue, about saying "I love you" to your parents, let me know if you haven't seen it yet,
Whatever we do in our early years stays with us forever.
Whatever you learn, stays with you.
Whatever you ate as a child (mainly you mom's cooking), you will always love.
Where you lived as a child, you will always reminisce and remember with fondness.
That is why the education and tarbiyyah of a muslim child is of the utmost importance.
Especially making the child pray even if he/she doesn't like it. By the time he is older he will LOVE to pray.
Bringing up our children without extravagance and excessive luxury, will allow him to be satisfied with little later in life.
Teach children to be independent before they really are.
The more effort we put in bringing up our children, the less effort will be required later on.
If we are not our children's teachers, they will take others as their role models.“Do not pray for an easy life, pray for the strength to endure a difficult one.”

Re: Short thoughts I Love Guns don't destroy nations, Sins do.
I Love this "The Quran is like an ocean. Dive in."
However how about "The Quran is like an ocean, be prepared to dive and be mesmerised"
PS. I have included some of these in my letters to the prisoners, if that's okay with you talented people. Mashaa'Allaah.

Re: Short thoughts This is from a sister, she heard the sound water drops make when falling in a pool of water, like when the water tap [Okay, I seriously had to translate.google that word, in dutch its kraan] is not closed sufficiently. I'm not quite sure if she actually heard it, or just envisioned it. Anyhow, just try to hear it yourselves, and try to imagine yourself there..
First drip,
I'm in. I'm there, I made it.
First drip,
Blood drops, It fades, I'm fading.
First drip,
It's true, I see, He gave it.
First step,
My life, first grasp, I take it.Last edited by Umm Sabriyyah; 9th February 2012 at 08:51 PM.

Re: Short thoughts My (not exactly) short thoughts..
A wise friend once said to me:The sunnah of Allaah is that things change when we least expect, not when we do expect. And that is so true. We are often so persistent on asking for that one thing, continuously like a nagging child and well even throw an emotional tantrum when theres a delay in a response. But do we ever stop to think that if we havent been granted our wish yet despite our constant asking, then perhaps the lesson for us is to stop chasing it?
Time and again, to my amazement, I have found myself given what I had wanted so much only after I had stopped running after it. This does not in any way mean that we stop praying for it, but it is actually a beautiful lesson in humility, patience and perspective. We can ask without making that thing our focus. Because when it becomes our focus, it turns into an obsession like a hole that digs itself deeper, and an obsession keeps us from aspects of our lives that are far more deserving of our attention and time. And just when you free yourself of that fixation, you will see doors opening before you; a path of possibilities unraveling right before your eyes.
From: When we least expect.."The government says that I was obsessed with violence, obsessed with "killing Americans." But, as a Muslim living in these times, I can think of a lie no more ironic." - Tariq Mehanna [Read full statement here]

Re: Short thoughts Not my own thought but related to the above:
You are not aware of the consequences that would result (if you were granted what you desire) because what you seek might be to your detriment. (O soul) be conscious that your Master is more aware about your well-being than you are. ~Ibn Al-Jawzee"...One of the first concepts I learned in Islam is that of loyalty, of brotherhood – that each Muslim woman is my sister, each man is my brother, and together, we are one large body who must protect each other." - Tarek Mehanna
