Windows vista

I bought a new pc alhamdulilaah, and it has windows vista on it, but It's not recognising my creative zen nor my camera even though I have downloaded their respective Cds on to the PC. It must be the drivers or something.

Any help ?

vista is horrible with creative zens as the drivers for the zens are not vista compatible

does it ask you for drivers?

if so, plug in your hardware and wait for the prompt to search for drivers.

If no drivers are found, click on the "advanced" option of locating the drivers manually.

If you dont get an option of browsing manually go to Control Panel > Device Manager and Find your hardware thats not installed. Right click on it and select Update Driver Software.

You get asked to Browse your computer, or you can enter a file location. Simply place the following in, or find the folder on your computer

C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository

Click next and Windows searches that folder... and finds your drivers... installs them and sorts it all out.

can you put down the exact model of creative you have and the exact model of your cannon so i can look up the drivers you need for vista

also do you know what vista version you have and wether its 32 or 64 bit?

When installing device software always leave the usb cable unplugged and then install the software, which will prompt you to connect the usb cable.

Try this solution first.

Another solution is to start > programs > run > msconfig , then disable all the startup programs and then install the drivers.

is the camera in the correct mode?

On windows xp as soon as I put the wire in, it recognises the player and turns on to show that its not playing but connected, and then all I needed to do was download and send to zen without even having the cd installed.

seems to me your camera is older than vista.also note that page 148 does not list windows vista.
