The Messenger of Allah (saw) came out to us one day. He stood before us and said:

Last night I saw something amazing. I saw a man from among my Ummah to whom the Angel of death came to seize his soul, but his honoring of his parents came and kept the Angel of death away from him.

I saw a man whose torment of the grave was about to come upon him, and his wudu (ablution before prayers) came and saved him from that.

I saw a man from my Ummah whom the devils had seized, but his remembrance of Allah came and banished the devils from him.

I saw a man from my Ummah whom the Angels of torment had seized, but his prayer came and saved him from them.

I saw a man from my Ummah tormented by thirst. Every time he approached the cistern, he was pushed back, then his Ramadan fasting came and gave him to drink and quenched his thirst.

I saw a man from my Ummah, and I saw the Prophets sitting in circles.
Every time he approached a circle he was repulsed, then his doing ghusl (full ablution) to cleanse himself from janaabah (impurity) came, took him by the hand and brought him to sit beside me.

I saw a man from my Ummah in front of whom was darkness, behind him was darkness, to his right was darkness,to his left was darkness and above and beneath him was darkness. He was stumbling in darkness; then his Hajj and Umrah came and brought him out from that darkness into the light.

I saw a man from among my Ummah trying to protect himself with his hands from the flames and sparks of Fire, then his sadaqah (giving in charity)came and formed a barrier between him and the fire and shielded him.

I saw a man from my Ummah speaking to believers but they did not speak to him. Then his upholding of family ties came and said: O Muslims he used to uphold ties of kinship so speak to him. then the believers spoke to him and shook hands with him and he with them.

I saw a man from among my Ummah whom the guards of Hell had seized, then his enjoining of what was good and forbidding of what was evil came and seized him from them, and brought him to be with the Angels of mercy.

I saw man from among my Ummah kneeling down, with a screen between him and Allah. Then his good manners and attitude (adab) came and took him by the hand and brought him before Allah.

I saw a man from among my Ummah teetering at the edge of Hell, but his hope in Allah came and saved him from that and he moved on.

I saw a man from among my Ummah who had reached the gates of Paradise but the gates were locked and he was shut out. Then his testimony (Shahadah) that there is no God except Allah came and opened the gates for him and admitted him to Paradise.
Do you mock the supplication and belittle it?
While you do not know what it has the power to do!
The arrows of the night (du) do not miss target
If my Lord wishes, He holds it back
And if the decree is to be fulfilled, He sets it forth.
    - Imam al-Shafi

This is narrated by Al-Haafiz Abu Moosa al-Madeeni in Al-Targeeb fi'l-khisaal al-munjiyah wa'l-Tarheeb min al-Khilaal al-Murdiyah. His book is based on this hadith, on which it is a commentary. He said, this hadith is hasan jiddan, and it is narrated from Sa'eed ibn al-Musayyid by 'Amr ibn Aazar and 'Ali ibn Zayd ibn Jad'aan and Hilaal Abu Jablah.
    ٰ ۚ ۖ ۚ ٰ ۚ ۚ ٰ

Indeed, Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and their properties [in exchange] for that they will have Paradise. They fight in the cause of Allah , so they kill and are killed. [It is] a true promise [binding] upon Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur'an. And who is truer to his covenant than Allah ? So rejoice in your transaction which you have contracted. And it is that which is the great attainment.

    (Surah at-Tawbah 111 - 111 )

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Allaah has forgiven my ummah for whatever crosses their mind so long as they do not speak of it or act upon it.

    Narrated by al-Bukhaari (2528) and Muslim (127).

Al-Nawawi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said commenting on this hadeeth:

Whatever crosses a persons mind, so long as he does not dwell on it or continue to think of it, he is forgiven for it, according to scholarly consensus, because it does not happen voluntarily and he has no way of avoiding it.

    Al-Adhkaar (p. 345).

Narrated Salim Abu An-Nadr: The freed slave of 'Umar bin 'Ubaidullah who was 'Umar's clerk: 'Abdullah bin Abi Aufa wrote him (i.e. 'Umar) a letter that contained the following:-- "Once Allah's Apostle (during a holy battle), waited till the sun had declined and then he got up among the people and said, "O people! Do not wish to face the enemy (in a battle) and ask Allah to save you (from calamities) but if you should face the enemy, then be patient and let it be known to you that Paradise is under the shades of swords." He then said,, "O Allah! The Revealer of the (Holy) Book, the Mover of the clouds, and Defeater of Al-Ahzab (i.e. the clans of infidels), defeat them infidels and bestow victory upon us." (Bukhari & Muslim) - (The Arabic Text is taken from Umdat ul-Ahkaam)
"This is American justice. This is American democracy. And those of you who are familiar with it, know that in America, democracy is hypocrisy. Now if I'm wrong, put me in jail! But if you can't prove, that democracy is not hypocrisy, then don't put yo' hands on me! Democracy is hypocrisy! If democracy means freedom, then why aren't our people free?? If democracy means justice, then why don't we have justice? If democracy means equality, why don't we have equality?" - Malik Al-Shabazz (Malcolm X)

    1) From Zayd ibn thabit Al-ansari (radiya allahu anhu) said I heard the Messenger say: O tooba (a tree in paradise/glad tidings) for the Shaam!, O tooba (a tree in paradise/glad tidings) for the Shaam!, O tooba (a tree in paradise/glad tidings) for the Shaam! They said: O Messanger of Allah! How did they get this? He replied The angels of Allah have rested their wings upon the Shaam
Al-Albani graded this sahih, narrated in Al-tirmidhi and other than it.

If the people of Shaam become corrupt, there is no good in you. There will always be a victorious group of my Ummah. They will not be harmed by those who betray them until the Hour is established.

And in one narration: And they are in Shaam.
