U have to believe the sufi interviewer for starters. Second, the questions were loaded. Third, i doubt whether imran knows abour NHM Liar, Hamza Yusuf or Winters or what they stand for. Not everyone who respects sufis in lahore necessary knows what they believed or preached. Fourth, i know from personal contacts that Imran has been in contacts with salafi jihadis in pak. And lastly, he is like many, ignorant about Islam, hence his political views. So IMHO, it is not fair to call him a secular sufi

    Assalam o alaikum,

Imran has been in contact with a lot of other groups as well. He has good relations with JI (despite what happened to him in PU), LeT, Tanzeem Islami and others. One brother-in-law of his is with Tableeghi Jamaat and his wife (Imran's sister) spent quite a number of years at Al-Huda and together they have lived pious lives. The marriages that take place in their family are carried out in segregated environments. That's one side of the story.

And yes, Imran has not studied Islam formally and he has been influenced by Salman Ahmad, Junoon's guitarist. But that too is mainly due to the fact that they are distant relatives. Salman is my aunt's nephew.

Yet, despite that Imran only recently said that Musharaf should be hanged for what he did at Lal Masjid.

It is really odd actually that some of us get to hear of some weird deviant view that is specific to some deviant cult. That view may be held by an erring simple Muslim. And of course when that happens, we immediately paint that erring Muslim in black.

Salman was rumored to be a qadiani, is that true. I think it was salman who said that he was leaning towards extremism untill imran talked him out of it

    Assalam o alaikum,

No he is not a Qadiani. His mother comes from a Pathan family and happens to be my aunt's first cousin.

no .imran khan in his every public rally has musical concerts plus dancing by youth in his rallies.as for his sister being in alhuda, what you know about alhuda!alhuda are no taliban!
i know many alhuda students who wear western clothes like music and one example close to us even married a rafdi.
so alhuda is by no means an "islamic standard" that joining it makes you a "maumin".
and as for imrans views about musharaf let me tell you something.dont give sweeping statements untill you know the facts in depth.you know that musharafs all cose friends including khurshid kasuri (musharafs friend who visited israeli foreign minsiter for secret talks) are now in imran khans party.very close to him.tell me what good can be achieved from such people?

edit.........now i have observed this post is 4 years old.so sorry if you have changed your stance now and realise the truth about imran

i am now seeing that this post is 4 years old!anyway is still applicable as day one and perhaps more as imran khan is now gaining success and can be next prime minsiter of pakistan.

as for salman ahmed of junoon he is qadiani or not only Allah knows.but this guy is worse than kufar.as he joked about islam and did blasphemy on a tv channel.you can see this on you tube.imran khans closeness to such people raises many questions

Imran Khan has been in the hands of America since the late 1990s. His sudden rise and the media coverage afforded him is indicative of this. Had he not been in the hands of America he would never have got any of this publicity. Furthermore, IIRC, he praised the regime of Musharraf to begin with before joining the ranks of the opposition to him.

I mentioned in another thread how this is a common tactic of the Americans, portray the old regime as corrupt - it usually is - while having the solution also created by America waiting in the wings.

as for imran khan let me be brief.i also liked him a lot as a kid who loved to play cricket.he was our icon of sports etc.but you know that islam comes first.so years of giving him more and more excuses that his heart may be right and he is just foolish by making friends with munafiqeen,,now i cant give him more excuse.
specially after he started to organise musical concerts in his meetings and youth danced plus his gathering of musharrafs secular ministers around himself.

there was a time when imran claimed to recently have discovered islam and his views seemed genuine but perhaps he has been hijacked by liberal munafiqeen.
so if we see with islamic perspective ,honertly, than despite our inclination towards it we cant give him any more excuses.

and to my pakistani brothers believe me or not...the only leadership which can keep you free from indian and american slavery in near future ,is talibans leadership.now it is your choice, either embrace them as your leaders,or prepare to loose your country...as inside news say that the day is not far when america and india will target you despite you peoples services to them.because kufar dont even tolerate by name muslims

OK, let's wait and see what happens with him then.

I am willing to think that he is sincere and means well, but I think he has bitten off far more than he can chew here.
